    The 71st edition of the San Sebastian Festival will host the world premiere of El otro hijo (The Other Son) by Juan Sebastián Quebrada in the New Directors section, along with Pirsas by Angélica María Torres Tamayo in the Nest Competition. Colombian director Kathy Mitrani will also be part of this section with the U.S. short film Sombras nada más (Only shadows). Additionally, Colombia will present Mi bestia (My beast) by Camila Beltrán and Selva (Jungle) by Juan Miguel Gelacio and Esteban Hoyos García in the WIP Latam category, and Todo esto eran mangas (This used to be grasslands) by Daniela Abad in the Co-Production Forum. A delegation from Colombia will actively participate in this event, as well. Cristina Gallego will be on the Official Jury of this edition and Juanita Onzaga will be on the Kutxabank-New Directors Award Jury.

Colombian Films at the Toronto International Film Festival

Colombia is represented at the 48th Toronto International Film Festival, scheduled from September 7 to 17, with two films. La Suprema (The Supreme), directed by Felipe Holguín Caro, features in the Official Discovery Selection, while La Perra, directed by Carla Melo, is part of the festival's short film section.

Sound of Freedom hitting theaters, What You Wish For making its debut at the Fantasia International Film Festival, Paraíso blanco (White Paradise) coming to ViX+, Calle y Poché: sin etiquetas (Calle and Poché: No Labels), and Los iniciados (The Initiated) arriving on Prime. These productions are beneficiaries of Law 1556 and are scheduled for release in the second half of 2023, joining eight other titles already released this year.

The co-production Auxilio and the project Shit Happens and Miracles Too are participating in the 56th edition of the International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalunya, which runs from October 5 to 15.

FOUR COLOMBIAN RELEASES IN OCTOBER

El yuppie y el guiso by Rodrigo Triana, Transfariana by Joris Lachaise, Rescate en el Valle by Jörg Hiller, and Itzia, tango & cacao by Flora Martínez, will have their commercial debuts on October 5, 12, 19 and 26, respectively. Distribution in theaters is being made possible through Cine Colombia, Doc:co, Cineplex and Cinecolor Films.

FICCI'S NEW ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

The Cartagena de Indias International Film Festival (FICCI) appointed Ansgar Vogt as its new artistic director, who will assume the position for the 63rd edition. David Montenegro will replace him as head of programming.
